Biz Lessons: The Greatest Example of Cooperation and Teamwork I’ve Ever Seen (Video)

W is for....Words [Day 157] by wizzibet.

I hope you will enjoy the business lessons from the astonishing and motivational video below.

The lessons are about pain, adversity, cooperation, perseverance, determination, gritlove, support, spirit, mutuality, striving and attaining goals, resolution, tenacity and sacrifice: universal principles which we as businespeople must adhere to in order to achieve success.

This video of Derek Redmond and his father in the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics captures and encapsulates them all more than anything else I’ve ever seen!

The re-assessment of goals following a severe setback (think of his torn hamstring muscle as a business-related setback), and the undying desire to succeed, are EPIC; this legendary moment has truly become one for the ages! Having seen this event live on television in 1992, and scores of times since in various videos, I still get chills down my spine! A very famous quote comes to mind, “It’s not how many times you fall down that matters, it’s how many times you get back up!”

In business, inspire others. Support others. And draw support and inspiration from others…

Thanks for checking out the post,

Yoni

I remember seeing this when it happened Yoni and you are right it does have incredible lessons. One of the interesting things is that his father knew with his support they could finish the race and that is a reminder that we all need support at times and not to think we have to go it alone.

    Thanks for sharing

  2. Hi Yoni,
Thanks for sharing this inspiring video. I remember seeing it live and remember how inspiring it was. I like how you connected the message to universal business principles. Another one I saw demonstrated was Truthfulness. Derek Redmond said his father told him the truth – that he had nothing to prove to anyone – and he finished the race because he wanted to prove something to himself. He looked inside himself and knew he wouldn’t be satisfied with giving up at this critical moment in his career. Being truthful with yourself is perhaps the hardest thing to do, but it is the characteristic that makes a leader worth following.
    Keep up the good work,
    David
